The Junior Director is the executor of the creative vision behind individual Spirit Juice Studios’ programming and projects. By entrusting the project to the Junior Director, a cohesive and thorough creative vision can be maintained as the individual enacts their own creative vision through the guidance of the Creative Director and under the aegis of the VP team and CEO.

Key Responsibilities:

• Reports to the Creative Director
• Oversees creative elements of assigned projects from conceptualization to final delivery with assistance from Senior Directors and the Creative Director
• Communicates with the Creative Director to ensure SJS quality
• Works with the Producer to pitch projects, onboard clients, and close contracts
• Develops the project concept within the parameters set by the client or Creative Director (when internal)
• Develops Shotlists, Creative Briefs, Kaufman Documents, storyboards, lookbooks, and other documentation needed to convey the creative vision to all parties
• With the Producer, oversees the shoot, and assures all needs of the shoot are in place

  • Props, set pieces, wardrobe, etc (Shared responsibility with the Director of Photography)
  • Location needs (Shared responsibility with the Director of Photography)
• As needed/desired, acts as Field Producer, or DP during filming when the budget does not allow for a split in positions
• Maintains proper established file structure and organization within the Finder, Premiere Pro, and other software
• Kicks off the post-production process by conveying the project vision during the Post Kickoff Meeting
• Communicates regularly with the Producer and Post Production Supervisor on the status of the edit
• Communicates regularly with Editors, Sound Mixer, and Colorist assigned to a project, giving clear creative direction for the piece
• Provides draft approval and directs necessary adjustments during Post-Production
• Oversees the finishing of assigned projects, including text, graphics, coloring, and sound mix as requested
• When in the field, represents Spirit Juice Studios in client-facing situations with a calm and collected demeanor, conveying confidence and strength
• Sets the tone for the crew regarding behavior, attitude, and work ethic
• QC’s the final product, ensuring all elements have met SJS quality
