Lourdes is a special place where our Blessed Mother appeared to St. Bernadette and water sprang up from the ground. Since that time has the water has continued flowing in this sacred place and has been a great source of healing.

There are many pilgrims who go to Lourdes every year. But once every year, military from all over the world go to this sanctuary to seek healing both physically and spiritually as a part of a central program called Warriors to Lourdes.

We were able to go with the Knights of Columbus who is a big supporter of the program, to capture some of the key moments of this event. It was truly an honor and a great gift, to be able to see the Lord work in the lives of so many people as they seek Our Lady of Lourdes.

Fr. Emil Kapaun was a military chaplain who served in both World War II and the Korean War. He was imprisoned in the Korean war and died one on of the prison camps there.

After countless years Fr. Kapaun’s remains were finally positively identified. We journeyed with the Diocese of Wichita and his surviving family members to Hawaii to receive the remains and then follow them and document the military transfers back to his home diocese in Wichita, Kansas.

It is truly a privilege to be able to capture this once in a lifetime experience and honor a war hero and a servant of God and finally bring him home at long last..

While taking his six-year-old son for a winter walk in the woods, Peter Nelson soon realized he was lost and unable to retrace his steps back to his truck. As an avid outdoorsman, he understood the predicament they were in as night began to approach. As authorities were dispatched to rescue Peter and his son, he called and asked one of his Brother Knights to pray for a Fr. McGivney miracle. The Knights mobilized a prayer network across the state for their safe return. Peter credits their successful rescue to his Brother Knights, their quick actions, and ultimately their prayers.

Spirit Juice is proud to present a documentary on the incredible career and inspiring life of Gil Hodges, a baseball legend who was one of the greatest first basemen to play the game. He helped win world championships as a player for the Brooklyn Dodgers and the Los Angeles Dodgers, and also as manager of the 1969 New York “Miracle Mets.” But despite all his impressive baseball statistics, accolades, and humble example of leadership off the field, Gil Hodges is not enshrined in the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

From his upbringing in rural Indiana to his World War II military service, his illustrious baseball career on two coasts, to his devoted family life as a husband and father, this piece will introduce you to a true hero who deserves to be honored among baseball’s greatest.

Hodges was one of 10 nominees named on November 5, 2021 to the Golden Days Era ballot for Hall of Fame consideration. On December 5, the Hall of Fame announced Hodges’ election, having received 12 of 16 votes to meet the 75% threshold. Hodges was formally inducted on July 24, 2022, with his daughter Irene delivering a speech on his behalf.

He who was chosen to be the guardian and to raise the son of god, to become the man who saves the world.

St. Joseph is such a great model, being a father to Jesus, a loving husband to Mary, and the father to the church itself. A protector of families, A man of courage, humility, dignity and sacrifice. And a man who lived a life for others. While not many things are written about him, his deeds are absolutely exemplary. In this documentary, we will shine a light into the hidden life of St. Joseph, with the help of experts and their powerful testimonials to expand the knowledge we have on St. Joseph and deepen the understanding we have of his life.

The role of this documentary is to shed light on “one story” of the Black Catholic experience. An experience unknown to many in our church. An experience that, although unique, is relatable to the Black Catholic, specifically African American Catholic, experience throughout America. This film hopes to bring out the joy, pain and struggles that are faced in the Black Catholic community, specifically in the Tremé area of New Orleans. This film also hopes to share the unique struggle found in youth and young adult ministry within the Black Catholic community. Whether through “America’s Original Sin”, classism, or various other social ills; we are witnessing this unique expression of our Catholic faith disappearing before our eyes.

Through the eyes of Dr. Ansel Augustine, the Psalm 119 Step Team (young adults that perform with Dr. Augustine), Ms. Pearl Dupart, and Deacon Allen Stevens; we see how this experience of Black Catholicism is a “gift to the church” as Sr. Thea Bowman said to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

Our prayer is that this documentary, and what flows from it, will be used as another resource for our communities to address racism within our church and to create bridges of hope and understanding so that we may all be one Body of Christ.
